December 1973, Hunan province, near Changsha, ancient state of Chu . Working on a site known as Mawangdui Han Tomb Three, archaeologists make a discovery that promises to dramatically alter and enrich our understanding of the life and philosophy of ancient China, There are including wooden figurines, bamboo containers of food, silk paintings and silk scrolls dating back to the early Han. The silk saolls contain more 120,000 characters, including the two oldest known version of the Lao Zi (called Lao zi A and B). The four silk manuscripts of the Huang-Lao school precede Lao zi B. The four sections are: JingFa(《经法》- Canonical Law ),Shiliu Jing ( 《十六经》- Sixteen Classical), Cheng (《称》 -weighing by the Scales) and Dao Yuan ( 《道原》 -Origins of the Way). The four silk manuscripts of the Huang-Lao were called Huang Di Si Jing ( 《黄帝四经》 —Yellow Emperor's Four Classics) that listed in the Yi Wen Zhi ( 《艺文志》) of HanShu ( 《汉书》) by Tang lan (唐兰) ,Li Xue qin (李学勤 ) ,Chen Gu ying(陈鼓应) and Yu Ming guang (余明光) .The date of composition HuangDi Si Jing (《皇帝四经》) is hotly debated. Assessments congregate around the following periods: mid-Warring States (394-310 B.C.),late Warring States (309-221 B.C.),Warring States to Qin-Han (309-140 B.C.),early Han (206-135 B.C.).The nature of Huang-Lao thought as a deliberate synthesis of the best ideas of other schools make it difficulty to clearly articulate its uniqueness within the tradition. But we must acknowledge that the question of the relation of Xing (刑 -Punishment) and De (德-Virtue)is largely discussed in the Huang Di Si Jing(《皇帝四经》) by implying the terms of Yin-yang (阴阳). It is in Huang Di Si Jing (《皇帝四经》) that Yin-yang was firstly allocate to Xing(刑) and De( 德) . Dong Zhong shu( 董仲') has advance the thought to a new step in his Chun Qiu Fan Lu (春秋 繁露) then let the thought be put to practice. In ancient China, there are many legal systems, such as 'Ze Tian Li Fa' (则天立法), 'Xing Han Zhi Fa' (行天之罚), 'Xing Yu Shi Lin' (刑狱时令) were modeled after the thought of Yin-yang and Xing-de (阴阳刑德). So many scholars alleged that in ancient China it is in Huang Di Si Jing (《皇帝四经》) where there are the naturalism of...
