On Religion In Building A Harmonious Socialist Society

The construction of the harmonious socialist society requires coordinating the interests of every aspect and concentrating the strength of all sides. Religion, as an organic part of socialist society, plays an important role in the process. At the central Religion Work Conference in 2001, Jiang Zemin pointed out"Because of a mass character, religion produces the great social power. If it is dealt well, it will play an active role in social development and stability, otherwise, it will have the great negative influences, ever destroying one. The key is effectively to manage and direct it, reducing its passive elements."Nowadays, Our national economic and social development step into a very important period. Internationally speaking, the influence of religion continues to rise in worldwide politics and international relations. Since the cold war was over. Terrorism and hegemonism want to enlarge their group by religion. There are close relations between the national safety, social stability and religion. Nationally speaking, because of the adjustment of social relations and interest pattern, the thoughts of people's independence, selectivity, variety and difference are gradually increasing, the influence of religion is also strengthening and the infiltration of the religious powers abroad intensify from time to time, thus, the complicated situation on religion is sticking out these days. How to conduct the relation between religion and society, leading the religion to play its active role in construction of socialist harmonious society, become one of the most important problems our party faces.Based on dialectical materialism and historical materialism theories as well as documentary search combined with on-the-spot investigation, thinking in terms of rising the questions, analyzing the questions and dealing with the questions, this paper is structured under four parts. The first part is to put forward the questions, it is also the guiding ideology of the article. On the premise of introducing the religious theories written by Marxism writers, the paper mainly illustrates the religious theory achievements of three-generation leader groups combining with Chinese socialist practice. On the basis of reviewing how to deal with the religious problems for the CPC's three-generation leader groups, it put forward new questions that should be resolved according to religious views of Marxist at present. The second and third parts are to analyze the problems, focusing on the place and role of the religion in construction of socialism harmonious society. The fourth part is to solve the problems, starting from the three aspects among the party and government, the religion and scholar, it elaborates how to fully stimulate the active role of the religion and make it serve the construction of socialist harmonious society.
