In the 20th century, two great events happened in the Soviet Union, which startledthe world and altered the pattern of the world. One was Russia's October SocialistRevolution, the other was the Soviet Union's disintegration. The front was historicalenormous progress, and the latter was a historical setback. The reasons which led to theviolent change of the Soviet Union are virous and complex. The disintegration gives usprofound enlightment. It has not only academic significace but also practical significaceto study the reason and lesson. Though the diplomatic factor is not the essential reason, it'svery important to induce the disintegration of the Soviet Union. Diplomatic policy isbased on internal policy and serves for the internal policy. What's more, it is continuanceand expansion of internal policy to a certain extent. At the same time, diplomatic policycreates some environment for the development of domestic society and economy. It hasimportant retroaction to the whole nation. To analyze diplomatic policy can help usroundly understand the internal policy of the Soviet Union and the reasons ofdisintegration.The thesis is made up of three chapters. The first introduces some diplomatic policiesof different periods, such as Lenin period, Stalin period, Khrushchev period, Brezhnevperiod, Andropov and Chernenko period, Mikhail Gorbachev period. The second putsemphasis on the analysis of the general characteristics and consequences. The thirdanalyses the experience, lesson.The disintegration of the Soviet Union, the first socialist country in the world, is atremendous loss of the international communist movement and the socialist cause.Nowadays, it's very necessary to study and analyze the reason from the facts andsummarize the revelation which will benefit the reconstruction and development of thesocialist countries.
