As U.S intellectual property law plays an important part in promoting its economy, protecting intellectual property right tends to its main economic and trade policy. With the help of highly developed technology, the United States urges to enlarge the effects of its own intellectual property right law in the world. To certain degree, some international conventions are affected by it. U.S intellectual property law is marked by extraterritorial effect. The famous "301 clause" and "337 clause" are vivid examples.Therefore, it's quiet urgent to study American intellectual property right law's world effects systemically. The paper contains following parts:The first part generally introduces American intellectual property right law. It focuses on the political and economic considerations of legislation, which aims to find its legislative purposes.The second part analyzes some important regulations in patent law, trademark law and copyright law, including novelty, non-obviousness etc, which will provide some information to Chinese corporations to apply patent or trademark in American.The third part centers on U.S intellectual property law's world economic effects. Meanwhile, our attention gives to 301 clause and 337 clause. The paper discusses the economic effects of such clauses to Chinese industry, it also provides some countermeasures to deal with the sue in action.
