European Thinking Of The Chinese Women's Liberation Movement (the Late Qing Dynasty To The Republic),

Since the Forth World Conference on Women in Peking,women's liberation and Equality between men and women are becoming hot topics.There are lots of research both about women issues nowadays and historical analysis on each developing phase of Women's Liberation Movement in China.Out of these results there is a point that the Chinese women's liberation has its unique features.If you skim over relevant materials,it is not difficult to find out the influence from western thoughts on Chinese women's liberation.This thesis focuses on the influence between late Qing dynasty and the Republic of China and investigates the introduction of western thoughts in Chinese Women's Liberation Movement.The first chapter introduces the women's traditional social status and familial status,explains the forming of women's traditional status from the view of dominated thoughts.It compares the footbinding in China and the corset in Europe,trying to find the similarity of both phenomena.The second chapter analyses the influence of western people on Women's Liberation Movement from most perspectives.At that time,those forerunners such as reformers,revolutionaries and some educated women were leading the movement during the social revolution.The last part summarizes the spreading process of the feminism thoughts from Europe:from refusal to embrace.Chinese forerunners,revolutionaries and educated women played a great role in this process.Until the Republic of China,the Chinese women have made a lot of achievements in rights of the person and rights in the family.Meanwhile they have courageously endeavored to fight for their political rights.
