Forensic linguistics is a frontier science combining law and linguistics, which is a branch of applied linguistics. The thesis aims at expounding the pragmatic theories applied in the discipline and strengthening our country's legal system as well. Legal terminology translation is an academically hot issue in the field of forensic linguistics research. With the development of the legal system in the globalization, legal translation is becoming increasingly important.First of all, the thesis briefly illustrates the current research, existing problems and development trends of the domestic and overseas legal terminology translation. Then, the thesis arrives at the conclusions from the perspectives of definitions, characteristics, classifications, pragmatic functions of the legal terminology and the significance of the legal terminology translation. Thirdly, the thesis mainly discusses the legal terminology translation by the pragmatic principles, attempting to analyze how to apply the pragmatics principles into legal terminology translation to manifest the equivalent, combines the pragmatics with translation theories, and raises the new methods of legal terminology translation in order to change the traditional legal terminology translation limitations, which promotes the new development of legal terminology translation research.
