Along with the prosperous development of our commercial banks, financial crime is becoming one of the most serious crimes domestically and internationally, jeopardizing the stability of the society or even the whole country. In the 1930s', it's the America who first introduced the definition of internal control, later on, the role of internal control has been emphasized when fighting against financial risk and financial crimes. After 1990s', many financial crimes have occurred in our financial institutions, which brings very bad effect to our society, since then, we start exploring the system of internal control in our commercial banks.To study the function of internal control to prevent financial crimes, this thesis is mainly based on case studies, according to the COSO report, to analyze the problems of internal control risk management from the perspective of the five elements, and provide some effective suggestions.Chapter one mainly introduces the importance and meaning of internal control. Then, chapter two demonstrates the characteristics, harmfulness of financial crime, as well as those bad effects it brings to the bank, underlining the crucial point is to prevent it well in the first place. The analyses of these listed cases will always let bank staff bear in mind that do the right thing. As to chapter three, is focusing on the features and those unsolved problems of internal control in our commercial banks. Then some useful suggestions are given to the commercial banks accordingly in chapter four.
