Franco-German Axis is considered as the engine of European integration, but why divergences are still existed between the two countries? What's the impact of Franco-German divergences on the overall relationship between the two countries and on European integration? And what's the mode and mechanism to resolve their divergences? A lot of studies have been made on Franco-German relations after World War II by scholars, but it focused especially on Franco-German reconciliation, the causes and significance of their cooperation. Their divergences have been pointed out, but the analysis of them is not systematic. So it is absolutely necessary to make a further study on their divergences. The author selects"Franco-German divergence from Atlantic line of European integration"etc. as four cases to test and study the divergences between France and Germany. The author points out that in advancing the European integration process, the two countries have differences and divergences of real interests, of European integration direction and objectives. However, European elites including those of France and Germany recognized that European integration is consistent with the fundamental interests of European countries. Through intergovernmental negotiation and the series of legal mechanism of politic consultations, Franco-German divergences are under control and even resolved. Franco-German divergences will continue in the European integration process, but Franco-German Axis will never split up.
