"The Global Gender Gap Report2012" through the data shows that the country commits to narrowing the gender gap tends to have more strength in economy. Although the United States has achieved some success in narrowing the gender gap and enhancing the social status of women as a leader in economic development, but it still has many gender problems:in the field of family life, men and women always follow the rule that men are primarily responsible for working outside home, women are primarily responsible for taking care of family; in the field of school, there are many differences between boys and girls in the process and the result of education; in the field of career, women suffer from career promotion of "the glass ceiling effect", and women’s income is lower than men. For example, in the field of higher education, in order to meet the diversity needs of occupations, colleges in United States adjust disciplines in time by shortening the length of schooling, expanding the proportion of awarding professional degrees and promote vocational and technical disciplines. However, these measures can’t break the disciplinary gender segregation. The difference between boys and girls in the selection of disciplines will lead to the future selection of occupation in the labor market. The thesis starts from the relationship between the discipline of higher education and the labor market in the perspective of social gender, investigates the distribution of resources, responsibility and power between men and women in specific areas by using the method of social relationship analysis and statistical software named "SPSS11.0". Besides, it induces the distribution of boys and girls in disciplines of higher education, reasons the corresponding situation between disciplines of higher education and occupations, and compares the income between men and women in the occupation field of the labor market by graphical method. The research findings are:first, under the background of knowledge economy, there are some corresponding relationships between disciplines of higher education and occupations in United States. In order to meeting demands of occupation, the discipline is paid attention to match the labor market. Besides, it is outstanding that the dual gender segregation phenomena exist in the field of disciplines and occupations; second, the gender segregation phenomenon is replicated, inherited and deepened from the preparation of labor market to the entrance of labor market; third, there are some reasons of dual gender segregation phenomenon:the influence of traditional gender division of labor "men outside, women inside", the dominating of male thinking in scientific division and disciplinary deploy, the legalization of gender segregation by personal choice, the invisibility of gender segregation brought about by "social mechanism" such as family, school, enterprise and society; fourth, from the perspective of the contract between China and America, the gender segregation phenomenon is also found in the occupation of China, and the phenomenon of gender segregation in disciplines of higher education is more severe.
