Job satisfaction is the pleasureness or the positive emotion that arises from one’s working evaluation or experience. It constitutes of the facts that one feels satisfied with the work itself, the opportunity of promotion, the supervision, the welfare, the participation in the organization and the cooperation with one’s co-workers.The organization behavioristics indicates that teachers’ job satisfaction influences their working enthusiasm which has an effect on the teaching quality and the level of education of a school. The research of teachers’ job satisfaction helps to improve the stability and working efficiency of the teachers.This thesis compiled the vocational teachers’ job satisfaction questionnaire and made a research on more than one hundred teachers from a dozen of higher vocational colleges in Shanghai. The research shows that the general job satisfaction of the higher vocational teachers in Shanghai is not so satisfied. And they are almost satisfied with their interpersonal relationship. Then ranks the sores of their satisfaction of management, the nature of the job, the teaching condition, the further training and promotion. The one they feel most unsatisfied is the salary.Gender does not have great effect on their job satisfaction while the professional titles and the academic diplomas do. Their job satisfaction decreases with the increase in academic diplomas. The influence of the professional titles is just the opposite. The higher the professional title is, the higher their job satisfaction is.Here are some suggestions we can take to improve the teachers’ job satisfaction. Improving the cooperation between higher vocational colleges and enterprises, stress management, professionalism, salary and welfare, strengthening their job training, realizing management according to different levels, promoting the de-administration, increasing the investment in research and adjusting the structure of salary.
