This is a paper intended to study the cultivation of chemical substances classification thought from the angle of the trinity of history, philosophy and science teaching (HPS in short). Based on expounding of the philosophical and summarizing the development process, this thesis puts forward the content and instruction value of cultivating chemical substances classification thought during secondary school chemistry instruction and presents 10 instruction strategies.To provide a reliable theoretical foundation of the research, first analyzes the categories and features of chemical substances from the aspect of philosophy and illustrates the principles and types of chemical substances classification thought. Next studies the development process and historical phases of chemical substances classification thought. And make a conclusion that chemical substances classification thought origins from people's understanding of chemical substances in their life and production practice, and will be improved and developed as people's understanding deepens. This evolution experienced roughly 3 phases, during which chemical substances were classified according to their properties, constitutions and structures.Then, through elaborating on the philosophical basis and evolution process of chemical substances classification thought, tells what should be taught for the purpose of cultivating chemical substances classification thought in secondary school chemistry instruction by using the dialectical logic principle of the "unification of logic and history". In this view, secondary school students' chemical substances classification thought is also built up through their ever deepening understanding of chemical substances and it deepens step by step in aspects of the properties, constitutions and structures of chemical substances. Meanwhile also believes that the cultivation of chemical substances classification thought not only helps secondary school students get good mastery of relevant knowledge and understanding of the scientific methods, but also leads to a right chemical substances concept.At last, puts forward and illustrates some instruction strategies for the cultivation of chemical substances classification thought in secondary school chemistry instruction as followings: concerning instruction aim designing, content choosing, teaching implementing and evaluation. This thesis is wrote tries to contribute its bit to the enrichment of disciplinary system, and furthermore, serve as an inspiration for secondary chemistry teachers to help them reach an exactor command of the denotation of the new teaching standard and to conduct teaching practice with more flexibility and deliberation, thus promoting the realization of the over-all aim of "strengthening students' scientific literacy" and pushing the quality-oriented chemical education forward.For this paper explores the cultivation of chemical substances classification thought merely from the aspect of HPS, there leaves much room for further improvement and development.
