Since the reform and opening-up, athletics sports turns progressively to the direction of professionalism and industrialization. It has been fourteen years from Quarter-Finals at first to professional basketball league since our basketball tried the professional road in 1995. With the in-depth level of the basketball professionalism, the foundation and development of the professional club step by step has been the internal force to promote our basketball development.As a economic and populous province in China, Shandong has a good base for the development of athletics sports. Since professional league started in 1995, Shandong men's basketball has experienced four stages, that is, Baoyuan as title sponsor from 1995 to 1997, Shandong Yongan Men's Basketball Club from 1997 to 2002, Shandong Golden Stone Men's Basketball Club from 2002 to 2006 and Shandong Gold Basketball Club up to now. During this time, it has glorious success as well as hard time. To be honest, Shandong Gold Basketball Club, as a well-known team in CBA, is a microcosm of professional basketball club in China with distinctive features and typical representativeness. It can represent the situation and problems of Shandong Gold Basketball Club with it as a example. In the meantime, it also reflects the existing problems and development direction of our basketball club especially since it implemented professionalism in 1995.Using the methods of documentary, expert interview and comparative analysis, this thesis has a microscopically research and analysis on development situation of Shandong Gold Basketball Club even the whole professional basketball club in China. Through this, it plans to find out the disadvantage of our basketball professionalism and puts forward the future development countermeasure on using good experience of advanced countries, which provides useful reference to the basketball development of Shandong and our country.Research shows that, with the reform and continuously progress of mercerization these years, the professionalism of our professional basketball clubs has achieved great development and progress in many aspects. But it also exists problems demanding prompt solution and improvement. There are four questions following. Firstly, unclear definition of property rights and responsibility is the systematic obstacle of club development. Secondly, club has no perfect administrative organization and basic system as well as experienced staff. Thirdly, club doesn't pay much attention to the back-up construction .Lastly; the ability to develop and operate market is incompetent.On account of the existing problems, this thesis raises development countermeasure below: first, the government should actively perfect institutional environment which concerns basketball professionalism including management organization and referee management system. Second, the club construction should be propelled by the perfect organization, personnel training, good sense of exchange, the management of Crisis PR and the long-term plan. Third, the management and construction of the team should be further improved by improving the professional skill, the back-up system, the professional ethic of the coach, the cultural awareness of the sportsman and the guarantee system for recruit sportsman .Last, the ability of market development should be actively promoted, which includes better management of sports brand, better service for sponsor, media and fans and much attention to foil entertainment atmosphere.
