| Office automation on teaching and its administration is now a key factor to improve kernel competitiveness, administration level, and teaching quality of a university due to the deepening of teaching reform in universities. The course arrangement is always a difficulty problem in the teaching administration system of a university. The resource of classroom and teacher becomes a limitation factor for the further development of a university due to the increase of specialty directions and course numbers. The conventional manual arrangement of teaching courses can easily cause the lack or waste of the resources of classroom and teacher, in addition to the huge and complicate work loads on teaching administration officers. The very often change of the resource information, such as course, classroom, and teacher replacements, will inevitably affect the suitable arrangement for all the relevant persons, and is not so easy to be transferred to everybody. With the deepening of teaching reform in universities, the employment of course auto-arrangement system becomes a trend in universities.Course arrangement is a multi-objective, with restraints, and hard to be solved problem. And it has been proved to be a complete NP problem. Genetic algorithm with intelligence and parallel technique is an effective method to solve the complete NP coupling problem and is suitable to be used in the course arrangement system. This paper focuses on the design and application of the computer course arrangement system in the Open School of Beijing Television University. And the system is asked to have the abilities to accommodate all different factors such as teacher, course, class, classroom, and time, in order to meet the regularity of teaching and maximize the utilization of the resources of teacher and classroom.In this paper the research status on teaching administration and course arrangement algorithm is reviewed. The requirements related to the course arrangement administration in the Open School of Beijing Television University are analyzed. All data on teaching and its administration in the television universities in China is introduced. The course auto arrangement system is designed with genetic algorithm. And the general design and realization processes are described in detail. |
