Two-dimensional code is a fast, simple and accurate method for automatic data input. With the growing popularity of intelligent terminals, cell phones and other mobile devices can be programmed to achieve capture the two-dimensional code information, which provides us with a simple and inexpensive way to improve the user experience. Moreover, in recent years, with the code of commercial success in the promotion, there are more and more people using two-dimensional code. So, the study of two-dimensional code technology has more important significance.This paper mainly studied the background knowledge of QR code and its coding&decoding technique, the decoding process of QR codes and error correction theory also has a research in detail. Error correction theory is mainly discusses BCH code which commonly used in the format information and version information and Reed Solomon code which commonly used in decode process. In addition, the paper made a focus of analysis and research in two-dimensional code image recognition, including image pre-processing, image correction and image positioning. In the pre-processing stages of image binarization, using an adaptive multi-level thresholding algorithm to improve the recognition rate, shorten the recognition time at the same time. We also did a detailed analysis for the corresponding algorithm in the image correction and positioning process.Based on the above research foundation, this paper puts forward a real-time and efficient QR code recognition algorithm which upon the Android platform, this algorithm using the device’s image processing technology and embedded QR code recognition system to binarization, orientation, grids generation and decoding QR code. And this algorithm also reduces the amount of calculation and improve the efficiency of image recognition, On the Android platform we successfully achieved this system, the experimental results also show that the algorithm is robust and reliable.
