With constantly further research on the application of wireless communication technique, the remarkable advantage of ZigBee in short-range wireless communication control field was singled out recently. As a result, ZigBee caught more and more attention of scientific researchers and organizations. Through investigation on medium or large sized Chinese medicine pharmacies in the downtown of Harbin, the author designed a location system of Chinese medicine cabinets based on the research on the traditional ways to get medicine. Different from the other sensor positioning the system can remind the position of traditional Chinese medicine cabinets and surplus medicine. The system can trace and fix the cabinets’ positions by using wireless positioning function of ZigBee. It can precisely inquire the positions and status of Chinese traditional medicine consumers want to buy, which will save salesclerks’ time to get medicine and increase their efficiency.Firstly, the paper made a brief overview with ZigBee networking technology and several common close-transmission technology and introduced ZigBee networking technology from its characteristics, topological structure and its application areas, etc. Then the author made whole design for the positioning system of Chinese medicine cabinets integrated with the design principles of ZigBee networking technology and the device type of ZigBee network.In the paper the hardware design integrated with the hardware design of electric circuit node’s modules with CC2530 chip as the core. At the same time, based on the IAR development environment the paper designed relevant node positioning software system, provided the work procedure of all of nodes and programs of all of modules and finally realized the construction process of the whole ZigBee network software system. At the same time, the paper designed the middleware between the sale and cabinets by C++. At last, the author tested the performance of the system, and the result showed that its transmission distance and effect accorded with the goal, which shorted salesclerks’ time to get medicine and increased their efficiency. The system can also reduce the errors in getting medicine and realize the accurate positioning and show of traditional Chinese medicine cabinets.
