Yao Shichao (Communication&Electronics System)Directed by Prof. Wang YanfeiSynthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) is a kind of all-weather and all-time remote sensing tools, through which high resolution image can be obtained. The amount of raw data of SAR is so large that it is difficult to downlink and to save. So ,It is one of good ideal to compress the raw data.Firstly, the statistical property of the received electromagnetic waves were introduced, the basic theories of the polarimetric SAR were studied and the statistical property of the received polarimetric electromagnetic waves were analyzed as well. Several common algorithms of SAR raw data were provided and a systematic evaluation environment of SAR raw data was presented in this paper .We also suggested a number of additional metrics.The reservation of phase information in SAR raw data compression must be improved to implete the polarization and interferometry in the field of SAR. The amplitude and phase algorithm (AP) presented in this paper shows the particular reservation of phase information directly. The evalution also shows that the AP algorithm can reserve phase information well. Under the condition that the compression ratio is identical, if we select appropriate quantization bits of amplitude and phase, The AP algorithm can acquire better compression performance than BAQ algorithm. Because of the vacancy of SAR raw data compression algorithm in current polarimetric SAR field, the paper presents amplitude and phase algorithm of polarimetric data(PAP) which takes advantage of the correlation in the phases of the polarmetric channels and has achieved excellent compression performance.
