Hydraulic torque converter is a kind of device that can transfer the power using fluid. The ballooning of its shell would occur when the inner pressure and speed change, and how to measure the axial displacement of torque converter in a certain state becomes more important for its design.This thesis describes the system design of data acquisition and control based on the Hydraulic Torque Converter Ballooning Tester that was designed and manufactured by Chemical Mechanical Engineering Research Institute of Zhejiang University. The paper raises a method that can get the data of axial displacement which has been removed the total axial displacement. There is a small flat metal piece on the outside of torque converter's shell. It is called tab. System get the total axial displacement by measuring this tab's axial movement.The System uses the client/server mode to perform the control and data acquisition of torque converter. The server is mainly in charge of the torque converter's speed, pressure control and data acquisition of hub and pilot. The tab's data acquisition, which is a substitute for the torque converter's whole displacement, is in the charge of the client. The application uses the Delphi and LabVIEW as the programming tools of the server and client, and uses the TCP/IP protocol to implement the tab's data and control instructions transfer.The system uses post-trigger acquisition in the applications that the system can collect data after a specified trigger event. Using these methods, the system improves the efficiency of the data acquisition, ensures the continuity and integrality.
