The Salary Intelligent Decision Support System(SlDSS) is developed under the cooperation between the Personnel Department of Guangdong Province and Cooperating Software Laboratory. It is an application of Intelligent Decision Support System(IDSS). Its goal is to free personnel staff from the chores of salary adjustment. In the meantime, with the help of SIDSS, numerous mistakes caused by human factors can be avoided and thus salary management can be standardized. In addition, as a response to the unified salary distribution conducted by the Treasury Department of Guangdong Province, this project guarantees the validity of the sources of salary information.The temporal attribute of SIDSS make it a certainty to apply Temporal DB to SIDSS.The Temporal DB research can not be separated from the existing DB and its major development. In fact, it is necessary to increase some functions to the mainstream DB model to deal with temporal information. We should solve the problem of excess data and the difficulty in expression and management of the Temporal DB. The method based on N1NF relation is superior to the traditional relation method when dealing with a complex -structured object in an un-sheet way, so that it is suitable to express temporal relation, fn this paper, we hold that Nested relational DB can express and deal with temporal information and we can apply it to SIDSS.illThis paper introduces the basic concepts, development, specialties and types of temporal DB. It copes with the backdrop, feature and basic structure of SIDSS and then particularly extends to the temporal attribute and mathematical model of SIDSS. It points out that it is an inevitable trend to apply the temporal DB to SIDSS. Then the temporal DBS models are speculated over. In addition, it puts forward a nested temporal DB, which, with stronger expressive ability than others, is a breakthrough to Entity-Relationship Model and is referred to as NTER Model. It also verifies the expressive ability of NTER when it is applied to SIDSS. Finally, in view of the features of SIDSS and the current status of salary distribution system, it conducts initial study of the SIDSS based on temporal-spatial relationship and the SIDSS with a temporally-driven knowledge database, with the aim for us to develop a consummate SIDSS system in the future.
