Agent Theory is an hot area among Al branches. As an independent unit, Agent has the following basic capabilities: Autonomy, reactivity, proactiveness, sociality. Also, agent has some capability considered only belonging to human beings before. Such recognition help to advance Al theory. In additional, the thinking of agent bring new idea to people's work about software programming. Its combination with OOS, distributed computation and other areas give ES designation support in technology. As computer network and telecommunication develop, especially with the prevalence of Internet, network-based distributed computation is becoming the mainstream of computer technology. Expert System is also need Agent theory. This paper first discusses several aspects of Agent theory, such as basic concepts, recognition model, architecture, MAS telecommunication mechanism and knowledge-shared framework etc. Then, from the view of software engineering, we analyze the relation between Agent and Object-oriented area, also other fields in order to find a feasible method to realize MA-based system. In Chapter 3, we put forward our designation of Web-based Multi-Agent Agriculture Expert System after analyzing the limitation of current designation of agriculture expert system and its own properties based on MAS theory. In succession, we demonstrate its feasibility from several aspects: system architecture, knowledge sharing, task decomposing, cooperation between agents and new agent creation. Finally, the paper shows key technologies of our system. Considering that agent theory is not very well-rounded, and also our level and condition is limited, many of the thesis is needed to study further.
