Machine vision has found an increasing application in the field of traffic management. In this paper a drowsy driver detection system based on machine vision is introduced. The basic principle,current development and application of machine vision are described. After giving the drowsy driver detection technologies in our nation and other countries,two experimental schemes are simulated and analyzed. Then the scheme based on Red Eye Effect,Difference Image and Kalman Filter is adopted. This paper pay attention to introduce the designing of system,the hardware development for capturing image,and algorithms of detection & tracking of pupil.Finally,experiment results based on this system are given and discussed. Faced the drawbacks of the current system,this paper put forward some new ideas and foreground of the system.
