In this paper on the basis of the proposed scheme of the automatic Chinese traditional medicine dispensation system, a medicine fetching system is realized using software, hardware and multi-axis motion control technique. The controlled plant is a manipulator of medicine fetching with 4 freeness dimensions. GT400SG, a kind of multi-axis motion controller, altogether with motion actuates is used to constitute the medicine dispensation system, one computer motion control system. The manipulator manages to accomplish fetching medicine under the control of the system. The requirement of medicine industry demands that the dispensation system has good performance on celerity, veracity and reliability. The design of the medicine fetching system with sound structure and advanced technology is the key to meeting the requirement. In the part of hardware design, the method of composing position-servo controller using GT400SG is presented. In the part of software design, the whole structure of the control software on the platform of Windows NT is studied. We choose Visual C++ as platform for software design.According to modularization thought, the control software consists of five modules. Multithreading technique is applied to the realization of the modules. The master thread takes care of creating other threads that perform useful work on their respective task. The way to applying database to information management module is discussed in the paper. This paper is expected to help to develop the advanced medicine dispensation system.
