A Smart Home Network System Studies And Preliminary Implementation

Home automation and home networking is the future of intelligence home. The digital home networking will provide users with a comfortable and convenient life. There are many standards about home networking and home automation on difference levels. On swithching technique, there are wired standards as HomePNA and IEEE 1394, and wireless standards such as HomeRF, Bluetooth. About the high level interconnect, there are HAVi for home video and audio connecting and control, Sun's Jini, OSGi, and UPnp from Microsoft. In our country, the "Standard of Home Network" has been submitted to the National Information Industry Department, and relative standards are establishing at present. Although all these standards have their advantages, because of their cost, maturity and so on, they are not applied widely.This paper proposes and implements a scheme of home network. Its functions include control of home appliance by IrDA learning, intelligence home safeguard (guard for fire, thief, gas etc), auto payment of power, water, gas fees, visualized door-guard, area dialogue, area information and management etc. To do research oninformation appliance and home networking further, a simulative home network isimplemented.In the home network, the central device is the home control center (homegateway), to which information applians, safeguard and other devices are connectedby various means, including RS485 and Ethernet. The inner home networkcommunicates with the outer network via the control center, and the control ofinformation applians from the outer network will be performed through it as well.Intel StrongARM SA1110 serves as its hardware platform, the embedded Linux asits operation system, and QT/Embedded as its GUI.A good home network protocol stack is the basis of a home network. Wedesigned a home network protocol after consulting many network protocol stacks.The protocol has a good applicability, expansibility and performance.
