The traditional modeling method of C4ISR communication networks is to construct simulation models for real communication networks directly. This method greatly depends on the modeler's experience, which easily causes the model's confusing constructs and the difficulties for other modelers to understand.The conceptual model is the description of the basic concepts and their relations of the target system. It is independent of any concrete realization of the simulation, which enables the people with different backgrounds of knowledge to share and communicate their knowledge. In this paper, the Conceptual Model of Mission Space (CMMS) was put in to the C4ISR communication networks. In this way the author studied what the basic modeling elements of CMMS, such as entity, action, task and interaction, shows to be in the conceptual model of C4ISR communication networks. A series of specifications of conceptual model were established in Unified Modeling Language (UML) in this paper, which can be used in constructing the formal conceptual model. The author also discussed how to perform the validation and verification of the conceptual model. In this way an efficient tool was provided for the knowledge-sharing and communication between C4ISR network experts and modelers in simulation.In this paper the correspond relationships between the elements of the conceptual model of C4ISR communication network and the ones of its simulation model in Petri nets were indicated. Thus the program framework of the simulation model was standardized, which could reduce the dependency of the modeling on the modelers.
