Because of using spread spectrum technique, phase-coded radar has good anti-jamming capability and low probability of intercept property. So more and more attention has been paid to the research on it for military and civil application. Phase-coded radar, however, has the disadvantage of higher range sidelobe and Doppler sensitivity. To solve the problem of higher range sidelobe of phase-coded radar, the method of removing big power signals with FFT_IFFT is presented in this paper. It can be seen from the result of theoretical analysis and simulation that this method has very good effect to sidelobe-suppression and can enhance the dynamic range of the radar system by 80dB or more.Detection performance and anti-jamming capability of phase-coded radar are also analyzed in this paper. The computer simulation shows that phase-coded radar has better property of suppressing jamming such as shortwave, Gauss noise and binary phase code than LFM radar. Finally, by using mismatched filter technique, optimized code is studied and searched. This kind of code will be used broadly in the future because it has the property of no sidelobe and low SNR(Signal Noise Ratio) loss.
