This thesis is started with the "Voice over Packet Networks" technology and introduces the key features of it by compareing VOIP, VOFR, VOA. The second part of this thesis is focused on VOIP system. It is the mainstream VOP technology and has three branches: H.323, SIP, and H.248/MEGACO. The project related with this thesis is based on H.323, the most popular VOIP architecture among the three branches. The follow part of this thesis discusses the "IPG-2000A Enterprise IP Phone Gateway System" project from top level design to a detailed module design. My work in this project is focused on the network management module. The last chapter introduces the analysis, design and implementation of the network management module in detail.The project aimed to build an H.323 based enterprise IP phone gateway system. The author had done a lot of reading work on the evolution of circuit switch phone network to packet switch phone network and acquainted with the three main branches of VOP technology. By focusing on VOIP the author gained the basic knowledge of H.323, SIP and H.248/MEGACO architechture and then can study the H.323 series protocol. Because the project refers to a network management module the author also studied the most popular network management technologies. By doing these research the author can participate in the work of system design for the project and finished the analysis, design and implementation process of network management module. The IPG-2000A Enterprise IP Phone Gateway System not only can offer the basic call function but also have an easy-to-use management facility then at last it has passed the appraisal of Ministry of Information Industry.
