This thesis is based on the development of wireless card, the NDIS miniport driver for the wireless card which works in Windows2000 and the configuration module to configure the parameter of the wireless card are implemented. This wireless card uses the Prism2.0 chipset provided by Intersil company. Main contents of this thesis include following parts:Firstly the frame format and frame type in 802.11b are summarized. Two MAC layer access methods: DCF(Distributed Control Function) and PCF(Point Control Function) are deeply analyzed. Physical layer, management entity and security mechanism are generally narrated.Secondly NDIS(Network driver interface specification) technology in Windows2000 and three kinds of network drivers: protocol driver, intermediate driver and miniport driver in NDIS structure are narrated in detail. The whole structure of miniport driver for the wireless card and the design of all modules are described, the layered I/O technology in network stack and the configuration module based on this technology are introduced in succession.Thirdly the influence of WLAN technology on 3G is discussed, and the adaptive control in physical layer and RCF(reservation control function) access method in MAC layer proposed recently are studied.
