Fieldbus is an all digital, serial, two-way communication system that interconnects devices in the field such as sensors, actuators, and controllers. The emergence and development of Fieldbus urge industrial control system develop to Fieldbus Control System(FCS) from Distribute Control System(DCS). Ethernet is the most widely-used network technology. It is a primary office-automation local area network(LAN). Now it is extensively used in industrial automation and performs well when used in industrial control local area network.While the advanced Fieldbus and Ethernet technologies are studied in this paper, the design of the networked automatic control system of Bing Cao Gang Waterworks in Pan Zhi Hua City is also presented. In this networked system, the Ethernet and Fieldbus are linked to a whole network system. On the basis of the networked system, the control sub-system in produce link also was designed. With these technologies, the centralized monitoring and control in control centre and no duty on field are realized. All these designs improve the production efficiency and quality of water, reduce production cost.In production process of waterworks, the quantity of medicament is of most importance because it related to the quality of production water, meanwhile it is also difficult to deal with. Several applied methods presently used are overviewed and two of them are deeply discussed in this paper. One is feed-forward-feedback method based on turbidity. Another is expert system with self-studying mechanism.Fore-back and feedback system based on nephelometer can control the quality of water produced in the little range by setpoint. But on the economizing of medicament it is not perfect. Expert system with self-studying mechanism also can reach control requirement and get more perfect result than the fist method. But its self-studying mechanism must be improved.
