Along with the progress of computer network technique, the distributed simulation has been gradually used on the computer simulation field. However, because of the inherent localization of earlier computer software techniques, the former distributed simulation systems have a bad cooperationbility and they are hard to upgrade and maintain. The COM/DCOM (Component Object Model/Distribute COM) provides a well-designed solution to these problems. Based on discussing the COM/DCOM technique, this paper lays stress on how to constitute a new distributed computer simulation platform by applying this new computer software technique. With a reference to Windows DNA(Windows Distributed Internet Application Architecture), the platform is separated into several reasonable tiers. The presentation tier is designed to communicate with clients, application logic tier is designed to deal with simulation algorithms, and the data tier is designed to store the simulation data. According to this separation, the three tiers are associated with each other, whereas they can be developed individually. The major goal of this paper is to set up a new distributed computer simulation system, which will act as an ISP (Internet Service Provider)on the Internet by providing clients with simulating services.Unlike former simulation system, the one developed by this paper is based on COM/DCOM, which has a good cooperationbility and can be expanded easily in the future. Therefore, it opens a new window for the computer simulation software developing.
