he buildings are one of the symbols that human beings have frequently changed the nature. The nature of the components of buildings, such as cement, asphalt, brick, stone and some metal materials is different from the electromagnetic characteristics of natural rock or soil. At the same time the structure and interrelations of man-made buildings have distinct characteristics. So the change detection methods of remote sensing imagery for construction sites also have their own characteristics. This paper aims at the study of change detection methods of remote sensing imagery for construction sites, systematically and deeply exploring the key techniques for solving this issue. Based on the properties of the research targets this paper draws on the existing research achievements, raises several ways to solve this issue and carries out experiments. One method utilizes the TM multispectral data and the SPOT panchromatic data. After studying the spatial, spectral and data properties of the buildings, this method can use imagery mergence, multispectral data classification, spatial property analysis and imagery superposition to achieve the change detection of construction sites. The method of changing vector analysis studies the radiation changes of input data. This method can detect the changing information contained in the different time-phase multispectral data. This method is very effective for data of different sensors. The vein characteristics method is based on panchromatic remote sensing imagery and vein information. This method can effectively detect the changes of land usages when only the panchromatic imagery can be available. The road density index analysis is a change detection method that combines spectral analysis and spatial structure analysis. The road density index analysis has two ways: the post-classification compare method based on spectral-spatial structure and the imagery difference method based on spectral-spatial structure. This paper raises several methods with merits and demerits. And these methods can relatively effectively detect the changes of construction sites under certain remote sensing data condition.
