| Virtual reality (VR) is one of the hottest spot in the application of computer graphics, and the distributed virtual reality is the utmost goal of the virtual reality. There are quite a few areas should be studied, because the distributed virtual reality (DVR) is on the beginning no matter in our country or in other countries, moreover, though many new techniques had been used in it, these techniques haven't come to be a standard.In this paper, we narrate the theory and the method to build up a software platform of distributed virtual reality based on the contemporary situation and establishing in the application. Five parts are contained in this paper. The first part is a brief introduction to Distributed Virtual Reality, including the environment characteristics and some critical technologies, it also specifically introduces the research and development of Distributed Virtual Reality,the principle,the components and the model of DVR system, then we can put up a platform of DVR system. In the second part, DVE system is intruduced first. Then the typical software environment and the goal to set up this platform are discussed. The third part is about the techniques we used in this system, especially for why and how to use some techniques in it. Next, we discuss the modle of the system and the process to build the system up. In this section, the main idea is the software environment, tools, building model process and the programming process. The last part introduces the difficult problems that we can't resolve currently and we should pay close attention to them later. |
