CIMS has been the advanced research problem in manufacture automation in the world since 1980's, in which the key problem is the integration of CAD/CAPP/CAM, the integration is not a simple combination or plus but the integration of extracting, exchange, share and of information among every modules. With the development of FMS and CIMS, people gradually realize that CAPP is the key for the integration of CAD/CAPP/CAM, which is the bridge between CAD and CAM. Therefore, how to carry out the effective integration of CAD/CAPP/CAM has become one of the crucial problems in the development of CAD/CAPP/CAM.The thesis chooses Pro/E as the developing platform and researches into the rational parts under the environment of VC ++. How to draw the information of part that CAPP system needs from CAD system? Besides, the system provides necessary data and an interface of the systemic integration for the next step-the CAM system. Some methods have been used in the study of the thesis. The first is to describe the parts' information in terms of feature. It has solved three problems: the low degree of the integration, the scarcity the data, and the low lever of describing information. The second is the method of 0-0 (Object-Oriented). The processing knowledge of features has been established by it. The third is to build the rational database. It can improve the efficiency of transmitting data and the level of integration degree, so as to ensure the consistency and reliability of data transmitting among systems. The thesis has achieved the share of data, by building relational database with features. This system has realized the transmission and share of information among CAD, CAPP and CAM systems. And it has provided good background for the development of CIMS.
