Chaotic signals are the noise-like deterministic signals generated by chaotic dynamical systems. Under the proper setting of the system parameters, the chaotic signals show wide and flat spectra and good correlation properties. These characteristics have attracted great attention for investigating new type of radar systems. There are two fundamental ways for the application of the chaotic signals to radar system. One is to use the signals as radar signal directly, resulting in radar system like noise radar and another is to produce the chaos-modulated signals, resulting in modulated-type radars. This thesis mainly discusses the last type of radar systems. Main works are as follows:1. Study chaos-based frequency-modulated signals and the corresponding radar system design.2. Propose a chaos-based frequency-shift-keying (CFSK) radar signal and study its performances.3. Propose a CFSK radar scheme and discuss its key implementation techniques.
