Video Recording has been an important monitor method in the security market for a long time. Now the digital recording is used in more and more places. The more and more monitor digital recording system use embedded platform to develop instead of Microsoft's Win2000 or Win98 series. The main digital recording standard have: H.263, MJPEG, MPEG1, MPEG2 and MPEG4. H. 263, MJPEG, MPEG1 and MPEG2 have been mature, MPEG4 is still in conception stage. The standard image quality can achieve DVD level and the data stream amount is much lower than MPEG2 if using MPEG4 compressed standard. The product that is called embedded MPEG4, its image quality only reach MPEG2 level now. The product has high rivalrousness if we develop high definition, stable, multi-input and low cost MPEG4 product and the product will keep ahead in the world.I designed an embedded platform based on Philips TM1300. I use American WIS company's the newest MPEG4 chip G07007E, USB chip M5273 and M5621, move detection chip NVC1200, WINBOND chip W78E52(MCU51 series microprocessor) to realize the above MPEG4 monitor recorder. I dissertate the product's realization, development and stability from monitor system's requirements. The paper mainly discusses the followings from technical and enterprise's requirements: Introduce MPEG4 standard and applicationFrom the requirement of monitor recording system, I demonstrate the embedded platform which I have designed is fully suitable for requirements of monitor recording system.The paper demonstrates how to realize the system functions, embedded operating system PSOS's functions and how to develop the monitor recording system according to PSOS which includes how to proceed embedded system development, the possibilities using USB for communication interface, research of USB driver, the detailed discusses and how to realize of file system which is suitable for monitor recording system's AV data stream.The system functions that the paper discuses are mostly realized in the embedded platform of XiaXin MPEG2 Monitor Digital Recorder. This greatly decrease the investment of the system development. Once the software functions test is completed, the product can go into market quickly and make much profit for enterprise.
