Video image sequences generally are obtained through video camera in the space monitoring. Usually, the camera is fixed on a plate form scanning over the relevant space area for catching moving target. So the background will have a global motion which will brings badly difficulty for the detection of the moving targets. And considering the data compression, layering of video images based on contents, etc…, the global motion estimation and compensation are requiredIn chapter two are given the system structure and key technologies of global estimation and compensation, describing several possible details of each key technology. In chapter three are discussed a rapid algorithm of global estimation and compensation for DSP engineering implementation. At the same time, to the detection of moving faint point target through global estimation and compensation, is put forward a new searching algorithm by straight line segment in three-dimension and compared it with the traditional searching technologies, giving their performances. In chapter four, is developed the technology of layering of video sequences based on global estimation and compensation. The image space is divided into the four independent parts, based on parameters of global motion. The technology is very useful for drawing regions of interest (ROI).In the last chapter, are analyzed the PC simulation of the technologies discussed above and the related software plate form. The simulation technologies are also discussed: the flow chart of whole system, programs of key technology, interface of the relevant software, operational rules, input images, output images and result analysis. In the PC simulation are used the images obtained in the condition that the camera only pans or tilts. More complex motions, if required, such as zooming, rolling, are suggested to be further discussed in the future.
