| Smart Power Integrated Circuits (SPIC) have been developed for applications including power converters, motor controllers, fluorescent lighting ballasts, automotive switching, video amplifiers, bridge circuit drivers, display drivers, etc. Motor Drive ICs, to be one of the important branches of the applications of SPIC, have symbolized the harmonic combination of the Controlled IC and Power IC within a single chip.China is the most important market of consumer products. With the developing of people's living conditions, the need of DVD and other optical disc drives grows day by day. However in China, this industry rises only several years ago, the optical disc drive IC and other key components must be imported from other countries, so it greatly shunt the growth of optical disc drive industry in our country. This paper focuses on the circuit design of BD7907, one of the most matured DVD-ROM Motor Drive IC. With the help of Cadence and Synopsys Medici software, the computer simulation of its internal modules and devices are fulfilled. Design improvements are also presented and verified. Finally, most of the circuit modules realized in bipolar technology have been redesigned and manufactured in CHMC, and the IC has been tested. After the analysis and design of one of the most matured optical dive IC, which manufactured in BCD technology, groundwork has been set up to design the optical dive IC of our own IP (Intellectual Property) in China, in order to change the status that the key components must be imported. The project has great importance and value!Chapter 1 of the paper introduces the background of optical disc drive and smart power IC; Chapter 2 is the introduction of BD7907; Chapter 3 analysis and simulate the circuits of BD7907, while chapter 4 is the analysis and simulation of technology and devices in BD7907;In chapter 5 some of the modules of this Chip is redesigned and manufactured, the chip is also tested. Finally, all the work is summarized, and more suggestions are given for later optimization design. |
