Plants are the most general life forms in the nature, and are very close to our daily lives. Plant growth visualization is one of the most time consuming, complex and pivotal technologies. The technical details differ on various plants. The development of plant growth visualization opens up a vast range of application, including agriculture and forest research, design of scene virescence, education, entertainment, business and so on.The paper has cucumber as an example to research the geometrical models of plant organs and plant growth model that based on "Dual-Scale Automaton Model". The software that named "Cucumber Growing Simulation and Visualization System" is designed and developed. This simulation and visualization system is aiming at the cucumber plant but not the general plant model. This article analyzes the character of the cucumber organs and plant's topological structures. As a result, it summaries various modeling methods and selects the suitable method to visualize the cucumber organ, whole plant and the plant's growth process. Following is the highlights in this article,1. The geometry modeling to fruits, flowers, leaves, and other plant organs. The algorithm has less control parameters and has better flexibility.2. Construct the cucumber leaf veins based particle system. This algorithm avoids the complex calculation of the texture coordinate and high requirement of the attached picture.3. The simulation to the dynamic growth process of fruits and flowers.4. Set up the "Dual-Scale Automaton Model" based on plant growth mechanisms. The parameters of this method have explicitly physical meaning, easy to be understood and implemented in programming language.5. The design and implement of "Cucumber Growing Simulation and Visualization System". Major features of this system include, parameter controlled demonstration of cucumber organs, dynamic demonstration of organs growing processes, the demonstration of cucumber whole individual plant and multiple plants,the demonstration of cucumber plants dynamic growth, and roaming.
