Nowadays, with the rapid development of computer network technology, many educational management systems have being used in succession in domestic universities. However, such systems and its subsystems are basically based on traditional structure as well as B/S/S. In choosing courses on web, because of amounts of students, this structure causes such problems as these educational management systems' response speed slow and the server overload, etc.Therefore, This paper puts forward a new Web choosing courses system based on mobile Agent, according as the educational management system developed by Computer Engineering Research and Development Center in Guangdong University of Technology. The main idea of the paper is that by mobile Agent technique and its application on active network, mathematics programming and so on, utilizing cheap network nodes to design and configure the system. Furthermore, the paper uses mathematics programming and distributing technology and makes the system establish on active network. Thus it solves the problems such as the server overload stated above and ensures choosing courses to go on wheels.This paper firstly introduces the choosing systems, and then presents the design and key techniques about the new choosing courses system based on mobile Agent. Lastly the paper gives its realization scheme. The main work is as follows: one is designing and configuring the choosing courses system on active network based on mobile Agent; the other is encapsulating tasks in mobile Agents and moving them to cheap nodes to execute, which makes computation move to data so as to reduce network flow; the third is based on mobile Agent, mathematics programming network nodes and optimizing network configuration by load balance technology.
