This paper describes the realization of intelligent control and relatedtechnology based on the solution of FUJISTU Source Encoder. DVE-1 is one of theimportant parts of Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) application system.The features of Digital Television, such as high video & audio quality,multi-function, multi-application and interconnection with the NationalInformation Infrastructure (NII), make itself the trend of the Digital VideoBroadcast, at the same time, the research and development of Digital TV Source EncodeSystem develops rapidly. This paper deeply analyzes the realization of intelligentcontrol and related technology of Digital Television Source Encoder, compares andanalyzes DVB, ATSC and ISDB, which are the major three Digital Television Standardswith MPEG-2 for PS and TS (system layer) of video & audio Source Encode. DVE-1 Encoderis compatible with DVB Standards. It provides TS/PS streams with changeable speeds(1.5Mbps to 15Mbps), real-time CBR compression of PAL input signal of fullresolution CCIR-601, MPEG-1 audio Encode (Layer 2) packing, combination of VideoPES and Audio PES, and TS output by SPI or ASI interface.Basing on the Hardware and software design of intelligent control of DVE-1encoder and taking fully use of FUJISTU encoder solution, I realize functions ofintelligent monitoring of system status, Power-on checking, alarming, auto recovery,etc. which enhance the reliability. Flexible configuration extends theapplication of DVE-1 encoder. DVE-1 adopts front panel displaying and key control,and supports RS485 interface and network Management, which makes the operationfriendlier.
