Webometrics Theories And Methods: University Web Site Network Traffic And Page Link Analysis

With the development of Internet, Webometrics has arisen as a new discipline, and it studies all kinds of Internet phenomenons and Internet itself quantificationally. First, Web traffic of Websites and Web link have been discussed deeply and their basic ideaes and limits have been illustrated on the basis of Webometrics theories and methods, then the methods of practice research by using Webometrics theories and methods have been illumilated detailedly in this paper. Second, the Web traffic and links of 40 Websites of our country universities have been measured by different search enginees (Altavista, AlltheWeb, Alexa. etc. ). and all measured dataes have been analysed by SPSS software. In addition, the characters of Web traffic and Websites links and Web Impact Factors as well as their correlations have been mainly analysed in this research. At last, we have got some conclusions about their characters distribution and correlations and conditions of Websites, and we aiso have concluded some experiences and methods that how to use Webometrics theories and methods in pratical researching.
