The future war will mainly be Information War. The victory and defeat of the war always lie on the capability of catching and dealing with the information from battle field. The unmanned scout that has power capability of information disposal is a good measure that satisfied the requirements. So many countries begin to study and develop the unmanned scouts. While the embedded real time operation system is the base of the information disposal and control system on the unmanned scout and determines the scout's performance. The paper mainly researches on the development of embedded Linux OS, device drivers and applications based on ARM processor. It gives the basement for the later work.Firstly, according to the required function of unmanned scout's embedded systems the paper brings forward the design of the system's hardware and structure of the software systems.Secondly the paper takes U-BOOT as the booting systems. It expatiates upon the booting system's processes and function and puts forward developments methods of the booting systems; According to the basic principle of Linux kernel the paper mainly expatiates on the processes, memory management and file system of OS. Furthermore it gives the kernel's start-up processes and replants the OS to the goal system.Thirdly the paper analyzes the structure of device drivers on the bases of knowing the basic conceptions of the device drivers. Then the paper accomplishes the SPK MAC and I2C drivers' designs that required in the system.At last, the paper introduces environment for application development. According to the task requirement we give the applications' design for video's compression transmission and reception.
