| MPEG-4 is currently a popular international standard that enables wide applications of efficient and robust audiovisual process. DirectShow developed by Microsoft has provided an integrated multimedia platform and tool kits for development of audiovisual process. As a result, more multimedia products can be developed to satisfy the requirements of applications for various purposes at different layers. In this thesis, a practical audiovisual monitoring system is taken as a case study. Based on an in-depth study on MPEG-4 standard, the system application layers are assessed. Issues in real world software development are discussed and analyzed, such as how to efficiently complete dynamic extraction of video objects, how to better setup the network environment for video stream data, how to further improve transmit quality and enhance security during data transmit in the network. The monitoring system has been modified in accordance with the point of view and methodology of the software engineering. The test results on the enhancedsoftware and system have shown improvement in the system performance and stability. |
