Linux Platform, Carrier-grade Billing Gateway Realization

While the rapid progress of the networking technology, The Network Provider will enable to offer more and more application service to the users, thus the router in-between the Network Provider and the Service Providers has become a new field that is involved in the accounting technique. With the information requirement of mobile user continual increased and become more complicated, the Service Providers has developed new accounting rules for the mobile users. With professional networking ability of Linux, a new solution for the Network Providers and the Service Providers to do the accounting is provided in the thesis.We have designed a way in using the x86 hardware to run the carrier grade accounting router in the thesis, which use the Netfilter in the Linux kernel.The main research works are as follows:1. Using the Netfilter framework, dada pack recombine in network level were implemented.2. Our kernel module use Netlink socket to communicate with the user application while the Netfilter to do the application protocol analysis and filtering.3. We use a connection redirection method to redirect the Authentication and Authorization to the Authentication server,4. Designed a highly effective algorithm in managing the accounting rules.5. With Netlink technique, implemented a specified socket between the kernel space and the user space, and produce the prising results.6. Finally we tested the prototype of the accounting router system with carrier grade x86 server, and proved the availability with the performance data.The System prototype is proved available for the telecom network providers, with an advanced prising functionality;it's a practical and valuable telcom carrier grade prising router.
