With the rapid development of communication technology, GPRS wireless network with the Internet has been linked and become a resource of sustainable use and development. The embedded system because of low consumption and strong performance characteristics that is widely used in telecommunications, industrial control and other areas. In this paper the GPRS wireless data terminal was designed and realized to use the embedded system and the GPRS network. This terminal takes the S3C44B0X microprocessor as a center, through driving GPRS module of communication, connecting to the Internet by GPRS wireless network, achieving data transmission.The article first introduced the GPRS technology principles, elaborated the functions and applications of GPRS wireless data terminal, then a detailed description and research was carried on for the ARM microprocessor and the embedded operating system uC/OS-II, followed by hardware and software design and realization of GPRS terminal, finally the overall function of the system was tested. This terminal's hardware design mainly includes the choice of microprocessor chip, the interface design of MC35 module of communication, the circuit design of memory modules and serial port and so on. The Software mainly includes the transplant of uC/OS-II on S3C44B0X, the realization of TCP/IP stack which including PPP, IP, UDP and so on, the division of system task and the specific realization of each function module. The software plan adopted can be described as an embedded operating system + TCP/IP stack + application program. The application program was developed on the basis of uC/OS-II and divided into multi-task, which simplified the software design of application system and improved the reliability of system.The GPRS wireless data terminal was realized in this topic, embeddedin TCP/IP stack, can connect to the Internet through GPRS network, and real-time data transmission is strong, which provides the transparent data-transmission channel for users and have a wide range of applications in the power automation, environmental protection, transportation monitoring and other areas, particularly applicable to the mobile environment, wireless sites and remote areas.
