Based On Mpeg-7 Video Retrieval System And Its Applications In The Digital Home

With recent advances in network, digital TV and multimedia technologies, more and more video data are being captured, produced and stored. Video information has the highest proportion, the most amount of information and the widest application prospect in multimedia information. Because video belongs to unstructured information and has the character of complex, hugeness, redundancy, it's difficulty for people to find the needful video in great amount of information. So managing video data in a proper way for efficient search and retrieval becomes a challenging and important problem.In this paper, we investigated the application of MPEG-7 standard for retrieval of video using the idea, way and technology of MPEG-7. MPEG-7 offers a comprehensive set of audiovisual description tools to create descriptions, which will form the basis for applications enabling effective and efficient access (search, filtering and browsing) to multimedia content.In this paper we discuss the MPEG-7-based video retrieval descriptions and its application in video retrieval, the main research work as follows:1. Detailed analyze structured video content and model of video content, discuss the key problem of presentation of video information, metadata description of content and the produce of description etc.2. Detailed introduce MPEG-7 standard and MPEG-7 based video description tools and models, discuss MPEG-7 based video retrieval technology.3. Design a MPEG-7-based video retrieval system and implement its main function.4. Explore the application of MPEG-7-based video retrieval technology in digital home system and put forward an application framework.
