With the developing of microelectronics, photoelectron. communication and computer, the chips are getting smaller on dimension. Since the capability of computing of the small device is getting more powerful, the traditional single chip system is being incapable. Embedded system emerges, as the times require. An Embedded system is defined as a special computer system, which is met to be flexible on footprint and based on appliance. It could be applied on the occasion of strict requirements on functionality, robust, cost, size and power.In the beginning of this article, we firstly introduced the principle of Real Time Operating System (RTOS) - the core of an embedded system. RTOS is promised to be thin, real time capability, robust, and so on. We talked about RTOS on the aspects of its real time capability, features, task scheme, I/O management and memory management. Afterwards, we specified the key technologies on system analysis, real time data flow diagram analysis, task discompose, and so on.This is a brief report summarizes the design of software loader system in DVB-C,including the principals,standards and software development flowchart.Also discusses that the loader system plays the very important role in the market running of DVB-C.The loader improves the function of software upgrading.It can not only accomplish functions such as loading the application program and configuring system parameters,but also achieve different functions by downloading corresponding application softwares on one hardware platform. Generally, we began our work with analyzing the protocols and specifics. The protocols and specifics of loader system include MPEG2, DSM-CC, DVB. The protocol stack of IS-STB is somehow complex. After this, we analyzed the requirements, features, system resources and real time abilities of the loader system. The products of this stage are real time data flow diagram and multi task flow diagram.Finally, based on the analysis, we discomposed the modules of the loader system in DVB-C.
