This thesis gives a design method of a new intelligence measure and control device at the actual engineering problem of elrctric cable producing at present The method according to the ARM Embedded microprocessor, and using the technology of the Linear CCD Image Sensors. It can measure the cable's diameter on-line, and keep the cable's diameter in a range.The thesis analyses the effect of diameter measurement to cable producing, and it's control theory. It analyses the theory of the cable's diameter measurement, and thesignal processing method. It also analyses the embedded system's usable, the design method of hardware curcuit and software design.The thesis completed basic design and software development of the hardware electric circuit.The hardware design includes CCD's driver signal creation, data to digtal signal processing; the ARM embedded system, ARM and CPLD correspondence, and the D/A converts.The software design mainly includes the Linux embedded operation system, the Linux equipments driver, the Linux application program, GUI graphic interface, PID arithmetic.At the end, the thesis summarized the completed works, and gives the method of further improves.
