With the development of data exchange and storage technology, the interface and connection between any two of them has become an important problem. Universal Serial Bus supports the feature of PNP and hot-swap, with a high transfer speed and low price. Therefore, it has been widely used in digital products, and is expected to be the interfacing standard of PC peripherals, with a bright future in communication and industrial application.People show more and more expectation as USB expands its applications. They hope that USB can be used without PC host, can communicate with USB peripheral directly. The research of embedded USB host system agrees the development of IT industry. It takes a further step in mobile and convenient data exchange in the meaning of practicality.This dissertation explains the way to implement USB Mass Storage device driver, and USB HID device driver specialized for an embedded operating system, and gives the general program implementation. This dissertation starts from the history of USB. The chapter2 gives a general idea of the USB protocols and USB framework, specially introduces USB architecture, USB communication model, USB transmission types, and many conceptions like USB device, USB host, which dues to develop this system. I analyze the implementation of the typical USB system under the PC architecture, and mention the embedded system, and OHCI protocols which is the theory base in chapter 3. The key chapter 4 is the practice part which implements USB Mass Storage device driver, and USB HID device driver based on OHCI as a part of the embedded operating system. At the end, this dissertation concludes the shortage in our research work. The last chapter also brings forward some specs that need improve in future work. Simultaneity, it supposes the fine prospect about USB development.
