Based on virtual reality theories and virtual radio techniques, the concept and the basic architecture of virtual communication system are proposed. Then its key techniques are studied, in which the HF sky-wave channel and UHF ground-wave channel are taken as typical channels. The basic principles, the key techniques and the implements of virtual communication system are focused on. And a virtual experimental communication system for HF and UHF is showed.Firstly, according to the theory of linear spectrum shifting, the virtual communication system is equivalent to the baseband system. The equivalent baseband channel is studied with the HF sky-wave channel and UHF ground-wave channel as typical channels. And the basic architecture of the virtual communication system and the implement of virtual transceiver are discussed.Secondly, in accordance of virtual reality, the key techniques and implement solutions are showed. It's very important to seize the real effet on the speech signal for the reality of the virtual communication system, so one of the key techniques is determining the model parameters due to the communication environment. The relation between the model and the environment parameters cann't be described in fixed function, which is presented in practical curve sometimes. So the model parameters are storied and queried in the database by computer. The building of the virtual channel parameter database is another key technique. It's necessary to find a quick, reliable and static flat for the virtual communication system in order to ensure the trueness and reality, so the structuring of the system flat is the last key technique.Finally, a virtual experimental communication system for HF and UHF is designed.Its architecture and the formation of two main modules of the virtual transceiver and the virtual channel are discussed.Also, the performances are tested and the correctness and practicability are indicated.
