ISO drawing is an important kind of draft in plant design. Automatic generation of ISO drawing is an essential function of plant design CAD system. The thesis mainly concentrates on automatic dimensioning and labeling of ISO drawing and intelligent editing methods of ISO drawing. The main features of the dissertation are as below:1. A method is proposed to formally express the rules of dimensioning and labeling of ISO drawing. Represented by key points attribution table, the rules can be easily modified to fit the needs of different applications.2. Two traveling algorithms are proposed—the "Same Direction First Traveling" and the "Same Altitude First Traveling" which are used to extract dimension and label information from plant soft model.3. A heuristic local search method based on variable priority is proposed to automate dimension and label placement of ISO drawing. Several heuristic rules are devised to guide the searching towards the optimal solution and limit the backtracking. Several accelerating methods are discussed.4. An efficient algorithm is proposed to compute the approximate contour of any planar graphics.5. An intelligent editing method of ISO drawing is proposed. When one element of the ISO drawing is modified, all the relevant elements are adjusted automatically. The operations are simple and efficient.The above features have been implemented in PDSOFT—a plant design CAD software—which has been appraised by the Chinese Construction Ministry and Chinese Academy of Sciences.
