| As it incorporates a multitude of art varieties and technological means, the multimedia designtakes expressive forms more complex and diversified than those adopted in the traditional mediadesign. The non-linear characteristic of multimedia brings about the transformation of designperspectives. As a result, temporal recurring and spatial overlapping occur in the vertical virtualspace, which provides work platforms and a variety of thinking perspectives to designers. Thethesis proposes and elaborates on the multi-dimensional design embodied in the multimediadesign. The so-called multi-dimensional design is an original designing or structuring means withwhich art themes can be organized and represented in new ways characterized by three-dimension,leap and network, etc. The application of the multi-dimensional design facilitates the emergence ofmultimedia works that are full of imagination and originality, promotes the further innovation anddevelopment of visual languages and helps the outdated two-dimensional thinking model evolveto the idea of multi-dimensional design. Through an exploration on expressive means andstructuring techniques of multimedia works, the thesis probes into the latent multi-dimensionaldesign with its emphasis attached to an elucidation on plotting and representing methods themulti-dimensional design adopts, its applications and implications to the multimedia design. |
